Chenango Valley State Park's two kettle lakes, Lily and Chenango, were created when the last Ice Age glacier retreated and left behind huge chunks of buried ice, which melted to form the lakes and bog. The park is popular with birdwatchers, who may glimpse woodpeckers, nut hatches, warblers, and thrushes along woodland trails; and herons, ducks, and kingfishers lakeside. Fishermen will find trout, bass, perch, and bullhead in Chenango Lake. Golfers will appreciate the 18-hole golf course.

Dave's Tips

Dave's tips are currently available for only some camprounds. Unfortunately Chenango Valley isn't one of them! Check back another time.
Chenango Valley photos were taken in the spring on May 5, 2016. As such consider that the leaves on the trees are not fully out. If you are camping at Chenango Valley in the summer, you can assume that there will be more shade and site privacy on sites that have deciduous trees.
