Welcome to our latest endeavor! The updating and transformation of our 1976 Serro Scotty Sportsman 13ft Gaucho. Inspired by our love for the classic wooden boats built by Hackercraft and made from mahogany, our updated camper will be named 'Cabin Cruiser'.
We will be providing a detailed account of our project accompanied by a 'boat load' of photos!
The Scotty Cabin Cruiser project is our endeavor to update and transform our 1976 Serro Scotty Sportsman Gaucho. Inspired by our love for the classic wooden boats built by Hackercraft and made from mahogany, our updated camper will be named 'Cabin Cruiser'. We will be providing a detailed account of our project accompanied by a 'boat load' of photos!
We purchased our Scotty in the fall of 2013. The trailer had been updated already by the previous owner, and as such was quite comfortable to camp in as is!
In fact we had already camped in it on 7 trips, 23 days by the fall of 2014.
The trailer seemed to have been stored mostly indoors, and there was no sign of water damage. The sink, stove and fridge however had been removed. The only structual issue was a bit of a sag in the roof.
We plan to give our Scotty a pretty extensive makeover of the interior which will feature the same original layout, however the materials and finishing will be updated, and only a sink and stove will be added back into the cabin.
The 'Cabin Cruiser' will feature a mahogany interior, with a compass inlayed teak table, fine chrome finishing, LED lighting and a Teak and Holly marine flooring like that of the classic wooden boat.
The exterior will be cleaned up, with hardware and lighting updates, as well as a new paint job and some trimming.
Our friend Wayne Renolds will be doing the majority of the interior work. We'll have some local specialists provide new custom leather cushions to match our theme.
Coming soon! A variety of tips on finding the best place to camp that fits your needs will be available for you shortly!

This past weekend we took the Scotty for a family visit in Southern Ontario. On the way back we stayed 2 nights at Lake of Two Rivers in Algonquin. We had to move sites on the 2nd day. No problem, we just use our dolly to tow it down the road!

Camping in Smith Falls

This past weekend we camped in Smith Falls at Victoria Park. A great spot, right smack on the edge of the Rideau Canal, and no more than 50ft from the lock! Great spot to watch the cabin cruisers pass by.
