I can't say enough about this website. It's a huge help when trying to book campsites, especially campgrounds we've never been to. We have found new campgrounds that we never would've known about that we now love. The best part is the cancelation page. We have been able to get the best water sites using the cancelation page. Base camp has been so helpful. We often cannot make reservations 9 months in advance because of work restraints (we own our own business)
So we often pick up a cancellation from this site .
The cancellation page has been the only way we get to camp .
We also appreciate the great photos of the sites. We bring a truck camper that needs to clear a 13 feet height restriction. So it’s important that a site doesn’t have low branches. We also use solar panels on camper roof. The photos helps us choose if a site will work for us or not . Love base camp ! We highly recommend it.

I love the pictures of the waterfront sites and the cancellations that are posted. I don’t plan much in advance so the posting of cancellations are very helpful in securing a last minute camping site on the water.

Base camp is an awesome tool to get access to cancellations so you can plan your upcoming trips to awesome sites. The photos are a great help also to ensure your camping equipment will fit the landscaping of the site. I have been able to plan some wonderful camping trips with this tool as these site were not initially available. Thanks to Dave for all his hard work in bringing this to us basecampers.

BaseCamp is the perfect tool for picking up prime sites on the secondary market. For almost next to nothing, you can zero on campgrounds, and view excellent photos and descriptions of a majority of NY State campsites. You can also set filters and monitor the availability of your favorites. It's no secret that a lot of campers will reserve a site for 2 weeks, then later, cast off unwanted days for whatever reason. With BaseCamp, when that site availability pops up, you can simply click on the Book Cancellation button, and it will take you over to the reservation site. What's there not to love about this? It's a great tool.

We are a retired couple and are able to camp just about any time the campgrounds are open. So far we have 7 weeks of camping for the 2024 season. Base Camp makes it so easy to reserve the sites we want. The only complaint I have is trying to navigate through the CampBot, it never brings me to a spot that will answer my question.

BaseCamp is vital to find just the right site you need. The pictures are very helpful to look at each site from multiple angles and the descriptions are spot on. The cancelation filter setup is great to look for sites on specific dates or in certain regions or specific locations. This helped me find sites on a whim when I wanted to camp and had no plans.

I used to think that snagging a water site at a state campground was only for the lucky few who were quick on a keyboard. Since I discovered Basecamp, I only camp on premium water sites now. I never realized how many sites get cancelled! As an added benefit, I discovered new campgrounds to try and the multitude of great photos takes the guesswork out of choosing the right spot for our camper. If you camp at state campgrounds, you can’t afford not to have this service!

BaseCamp has been super helpful with booking sites at preferred campgrounds when not able to book at time of booking window openings or when plans change and trying to find a site at a certain campground. I have been a member for a couple of years now and have booked multiple sites at different campgrounds from BaseCamp. The site is well run and Dave does an excellent job keeping everything updated. The filters, campsite pics and the heart button for favorite sites are invaluable. There are so many cancellations throughout year, you will definitely find what you are looking for at some point. Well worth the membership fee!

I have been a Basecamp member since the beginning. The work that Dave has done to create and improve this site is worth every penny of the minimal yearly membership fee. I have used this site to view the photos to select a campsite and have used the cancellation feature to book sites. The photos give an accurate picture of what each site looks like and if it will work out for your equipment. I highly recommend this membership if you are a casual or serious camper. Thank you, Dave!

We've been Basecamp members for 2 years now and it has been a valuable tool for us in grabbing great sites! Not only have we used the photos to help us decide between sites, we have used the cancellation feature to help us upgrade to a water site at the last minute. Basecamp has also been helpful in adding days to a stay that we already had booked when we found that friends would be camping in the same park. We were hoping for a cancelation nearby, but ended up adding a few days to the site we were already booked on! Considering that a yearly membership is about the price of a one night stay, I'd say it's a pretty great investment if you spend any time at our NYS Campgrounds.

I wouldn’t book a campsite in NYS without looking at photos! And Basecamp is an invaluable resource with the 10s of thousands of detailed photos, including detailed water access photos. Being able to mark your favorite sites in your Basecamp account, check for cancellations as often as you want, being alerted to great cancellations & 9 month out booking tips makes the Basecamp membership fee a steal! Any serious camper should join! You can’t go wrong!

I've been making reservations at local campgrounds for over 30 years and in two seasons that I've been a base camp member I have gotten prime sites including water sites that I've never been able to get. The booking buddy is amazing and will let you know exactly what's opening in nine months time. Getting first dibs on the cancellations is awesome because I can pick up great sites for a night here or there all throughout the season. I don't want him to raise the price but I'm telling you it's worth much more than what he charges. !!

I joined Campadk two years ago because my son recommended it to me. I joined so that I could see photos of sites before reserving after so many years of reserving sites and being disappointed after arriving. Since originally joining, not only am I still impressed with the site photos but with Dave McGrath for continually improving the site. Not only are there prompt cancellation announcements with links to quickly book but now booking buddy to help with booking favorite sites 9 months in advance. After trying for months to book a water site at one of my favorite lakes, I was finally able to find one because of the cancellation link. Thank you Dave for all your hard work!

BaseCamp has become an integral part of my camping trip planning. We have a large 5th wheel and there are definitely sites that would not accommodate our trailer due to various obstacles. My only issue is the age of some of the photos, but I can understand the difficulties of visiting and photographing all the campgrounds. Truly appreciate what the site has to offer and the new 9 month booking buddy has been a great addition. We recommend the site to many other campers if they haven't used it or know about it.

Basecamp give me the ability to view potential campsites and read objective statements to help guide me in the selection process. I especially like the recent 9 Months Out Booking Buddy addition. If I could give Campadk Basecamp 10 stars I would. I would never make a camping reservation without looking at the campsite photos and comments. Best money I ever spent on a membership! Camp ADK has let me discover campgrounds in NYS that I never would have visited; the photos alone are worth the cost but wait - there's more! I love having the ability to "favorite" campsites and have it stored for easy access. The cancellations updated constantly are sometimes the ONLY way to get certain waterfront campsites, so it's part of my daily routine, and it introduced me to wonderful campgrounds and campsites. The 9 month booking buddy is a newer feature and it is awesome - no more updating my excel spreadsheet with dates to attempt a booking - Dave and Camp ADK does it for us! He even thought to put the 9 month booking for a few days out so you can "scout" to see if there is any site of interest coming up soon.

I am glad I joined Basecamp for several reasons. The many photos allow us to get a site that works for my entire family. Our kids and grandkids share our site, so we can picture where their tent will go. Also, the cancellation list is perfect for when we want to camp late September or October. We have gotten several sites that way. I have camped at FC for 65 years, and the new booking buddy will save me HOURS of work to prepare for the reservation day(s). The yearly cost is about what we pay for a day of camping.

We found this site a few years ago and have used it ever since to find every reservation we’ve had. We love using the pictures Dave shares to make sure our camper will fit(trees,close to the road, waterfront/not). I have used BaseCamp mostly for checking out the photos of individual campsites of campgrounds that I have not been to. It is quite helpful to get a lay of the land for backing up the camper. I've Been camping relatively short time (11 years) compared to many. The extensive multi angle pictures are a huge help when having to plan the approach and entry into a chosen site. Base camp, offers up to 17 different views..
The big plus for me is that Reserve America is an absolute nightmare to navigate, and pin point a favorite camp ground, favorite campsite, and a specific date and get it all laser aimed at 9:00 AM nine months in advance. Hundreds of NY campers doing the same thing at the same time 8:59:59!! Base camp is a very worthwhile tool. I really like the 9 month look feature. Well worth the annual fee!

CampAdk has made our family camping so much better than we could ever imagine. Rather it be the cancelation or the photos of sites it has helped tremendously. Because of the photos were able to pick a specific site to our needs. We can also look at the site next to it and see what it looks like from a neighboring site.
