Fish Creek Pond Renumbering Guide

Last updated: Dec 11, 2025

Overview

Fish Creek Pond has been updated for the 2026 camping season. Some sites were removed, and a few were combined to create new family sites. All remaining sites were then renumbered in a consistent sequence. Although the old A-loop and C-loop labels are no longer used, the physical locations and characteristics of those areas remain the same. These updates apply to all reservations beginning in 2026.

To help you plan with confidence, BaseCamp has added several new tools and improvements that make it easy to understand what changed and to find your favorite sites under the new numbering system.

What Changed at Fish Creek?

1. Some Sites Were Removed

The following 20 sites from the old numbering system were removed for the 2026 season:

1W, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 28, 67, B1, C6, C7, C17, 136, 137, 167, 183, 288, 305

2. New Family Sites Were Created

A few existing sites were combined to form new family sites:

  • Old sites C5 and C6 → new Family Site F25
  • Old sites 66 and 67 → new Family Site F90

The 2026 numbering system now includes three family sites: F25, F90 and F314.

3. All Remaining Sites Were Renumbered

After the site removals and the creation of new family sites, all remaining sites were renumbered in a consistent order for improved clarity throughout the campground.

4. Changes to Site Length Ratings

A total of 24 campsites had their allowable camping equipment length updated. Some sites are now rated for larger units, while others have been adjusted to shorter limits. 16 tent sites are now rated for a maximum equipment length of 10 ft. Newly introduced site lengths include 10ft, 15ft and 25ft

5. Non Reservable Sites

The following sites are now designated as non reservable under the new numbering system:
18, 21, 23, 24, 25, 37, 38, 42, 85, 159, 167, 191, 294, 299, 300, 301, 317, 322.

Under the old site numbering, these correspond to:
21, C1, C3, C4, C5, C8, C9, C13, R2, 127, 135, 161, 266, 271, 272, 273, 291, 296.

As part of the renumbering, many sites in the former C loop are no longer reservable. The only remaining reservable site from the east side of old C loop on Fish Creek is 2.

How BaseCamp Helps With the New Numbering

1. Dual Numbers on Every Campsite Page

Each Fish Creek site now shows:

  • New 2026 site number
  • Old (pre-2026) site number

This makes it easy to recognize your familiar sites under the new system.

2. Site Number Changes Tool

This tool lets you:

  • View all old-to-new site number mappings in one place
  • View all new-to-old site number mappings in one place
  • Accessble from any Fish Creek page

3. Use Any Search Box to Search By Old Number

  • Simply prepend any old site number with a '/'
  • You can quickly find any site by simply typing its old site number with a leading ‘/’. For example, search ‘/143’ to view the new site that corresponds to old site 143

4. On-Water and Off-Water Color Coding

BaseCamp uses clear color coding to make it easy to identify whether a site is on the water or off the water at a glance.

  • Blue – Water sites
  • Green – Off Water sites

Additional site information is provided, including the distance to the nearest washroom and tap and the specific site number where each is located, along with watersite category details to help campers better understand shoreline quality, access, and view.

5. Updated Photos Applied to the New Site Numbers

  • To reduce confusion during the transition, photo labels now include both the new and old site numbers
  • Full original photo sets retained for full view of site from many different angles

6. Updated Maps & Overviews

  • New 2026 campground map for Fish Creek with accurate site placement
  • Icons are included to indicate all washrooms, nearby taps, and ADA-designated sites.

7. Site Area Grouping

Sites are organized into intuitive areas to help campers quickly understand where each site is located. Examples include Old C Loop, Bridge to Amphitheatre, Peninsula Loop and Square Pond North. These area labels, along with descriptive details, provide helpful context about each site's location and surroundings.

8. Campsite Favorites Conversion

All of your previously saved campsite favorites have been automatically updated to the new 2026 site numbers, so there’s no need to re-enter or recreate your lists.

Be sure to Log in to your BaseCamp account to access all the tools designed to make the new site-numbering transition as smooth as possible, plus full access to 15,783 Fish Creek photos and detailed information for every site.

What You Need to Know for 2026 Reservations

  • Reservations must be made using the new 2026 site numbers. The DEC system will no longer accept the old numbers.
  • If you know your favorite old site number, use the Site Number Changes tool to find its new 2026 number.
  • Photo sets match the same physical sites. Only the numbers changed, not the locations.
  • Reservations open for the 2026 on Mon Dec 15th at 9am.
  • Because reservations opened later than usual, the booking window for 2026 has been reduced from 9 months to 6 months, which also helps avoid the confusion of having every date for the entire season open at once.
